Comments should be working again.
Someone has a birthday again today. She should really stop doing that; three posts is enough, and five is right out.
Shiny Toy Guns' album We Are Pilots is out today and it sounds great. You can listen to it on their site (for a limited time), and it's supposed to be $7.99 at Tarjay and Best Buoy.

Conversations
Tuesday night I went to The Abbey Coffeehouse (everything has a Myspace profile these days) for the “Emergent Cohort” Meetup. Basically a group of Christians “figuring out how to live our faith in emerging church and culture.” Diverse group of people and interesting conversation. I mostly listened. Check it out if you're in Indy, or see if there is one near you.
Movies
I saw “Gridiron Gang” tonight at a sneak preview with some friends. It's a pretty good movie, based on the true story of a football team that was started at a juvenile detention facility in California. Many of them were gang members with multiple offenses, and as you can imagine it was difficult to convince high schools to play this team of convicts. It's an inspiring story of learning self-respect, overcoming bloody rivalries, and even dealing with emotional scars from fathers. I'd recommend seeing it, though maybe catch a matinee (few movies are worth $9+ these days...). Stay through the credits for documentary footage of the actual people the movie is based on.
Fall
Is coming. I love it. Even if it's rainy now, I don't care – the cool air feels great.
Broke
Until Friday. At which time I'd like to do something. Maybe bowling?
Lyrics
Really digging the new Snow Patrol album. Vast improvement for them.
And it's beginning to get to me
That I know more of the stars and sea
Than I do of what's in your head— It's Beginning to Get To Me
And you will know them by...

Daylight Sucking Time

The title pretty much says it. As a young kid living on the east coast, I had no problem with DST. When we moved to Indiana, I thought it quite odd that they didn't particpate, but got used to it after a while and realized that — hey, life goes on just fine without DST.
So some Indiana state congressmen – who apparently have nothing better to do – decided that after 36 years we were out of practice for changing our clocks. Now we get to do it twice a year like most of the rest of the country. Ah well.
Humorous event: since we had bad thunderstorms and tornado warnings here, we lost power on Sunday night and I ended up being late to work. I just walked into work and said “what? I said I wasn't going to observe DST.”
Cool Things

These are some cool things that I recommend as of late:
Planzo - online calendar, todo list, and notebook. It's social too, in that you can add friends and set privacy levels to share your schedule. It's pretty easy to use and has some cool features. Mine is at gregor.planzo.com, though you won't see much unless you're a friend.
“Glósóli” by Sigur Rós - this song is phenomenal. The entire album is phenomenal, actually, but this song in particular. In many ways it describes how I feel lately. Watch the video (low, high, cinema) and be amazed by the beauty. :]
The Top 50 Videos of 2005 is the weblog post where I found that Sigur Rós video. There's a lot of great videos in the list, many of which I had never heard of the artists, so hey - cool way to find good music.
Q & A: Our Omnipotent Leader - laugh. a lot.
next »Q. How does a War Bill become a War Law?
A. It all begins with the president, who submits a bill to the president. If a majority of both the president and the president approve the bill, then it passes on to the president, who may veto it or sign it into law. And even then the president can override himself with a two-thirds vote.Q. See it's the checks and balances that make all the difference in our democratic system.
A. It's true.
